Employment Resources

American Job Centers provide FREE support to job seekers, regardless of employment status. The American Job Centers system is coordinated by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration (ETA). You can also find a center by calling ETA's toll-free help line at 1-877-US-2JOBS (TTY: 1-877-889-5267).
American Job Centers are known as “One-Stop Career Centers” with teams of career agents, job developers, and business services consultants who have joined together to offer a variety of services, including:

  • Job search services and listings
  • Career guidance and counseling
  • Training referrals
  • Resume writing
  • Interview tips
  • Job fairs

Customers can visit a center in person or connect to the center's information online or through kiosk remote access. Regular Career Services Information and Access=Ability sessions are available for Tolland residents to attend at the closest Job Centers- located in Enfield and Manchester- details listed below.

Connecticut Apprenticeship Program
Apprenticeship programs in the State of Connecticut are administered by the Department of Labor. Skilled consultants provide technical assistance, monitoring, and consulting services to qualified employers willing to take on the responsibilities and obligations of program sponsorship.

Connecticut Career Resource Network 
The Connecticut Career Resource Network (CCRN) is the state counterpart of the federal Perkins Collaborative Resource Network (PCRN). PCRN offers career and technical programs of study, which may be adopted by local educational agencies and post secondary institutions as an option to students (and their parents as appropriate) when planning for and completing future coursework.

Rapid Response/Dislocated Worker Unit
The Rapid Response Unit responds to large layoffs and plant closings by helping affected workers find a new job as quickly as possible. We also help struggling businesses by referring them to programs that can help them weather a downturn.

VRABE Regional Adult Based Education 
The mission of the VRABE program is to offer dynamic, multicultural services in an atmosphere of respect, appreciation, and acceptance of all. It is the goal of the region to empower students with the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed both personally and professionally in a technologically advanced society. Adult-based educational programs are offered free to students in 14 local towns. Programming is provided by VRABE and funded by local communities, state and federal grants, and other funds.
