Wanat Property - Senior Park Projectwanat park cover

The Tolland Conservation Commission teamed with the UConn Landscape Architecture Program to generate ideas for a park for seniors at a town-owned 13-acre property on Sugar Hill Road. The property was donated by the Wanat family a number of years ago and must be used for open space and must benefit seniors. At an October workshop, 50 residents worked with the students to generate ideas for the park. The students each developed a concept for a park and presented them at a December 4, 2019 Conservation Commission Special Meeting. Their concepts are compiled into a final document, titled "Wanat Park Design, Tolland, Connecticut" (click the link to view).  The Conservation Commission was very impressed with the students' efforts, their creative designs, and the balance between the needs of the town's seniors and abutting neighbors.
