Beware of Fraudulent Solicitation for Firefighters

A message from Chief Littell

Recently, Chief John Littell personally received a robocall from 860-776-0148 soliciting for a Firefighters Support Fund.  Suggested donations were $100, $150 and up.  Chief Littell indicated during the robocall that he would like to donate $100 in order to be connected to a live person.  When a representative answered the phone, Chief Littell asked if the Tolland Fire Department would receive the money and she stated, “Yes, all fire departments do.”  Chief Littell then asked the representative for their main number which she stated was 1-866-894-3408.

We, in Tolland, do not solicit for donations over the phone.  We are not affiliated with or receive donations in any form from these types of solicitors.  We ask that anyone who receives such a call to record the phone number, what the caller says and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Anyone who would like to donate money to help firefighters in Connecticut should never donate money over the phone. The best way to help or donate to Connecticut firefighters is to contact your local fire department directly.
